Overview

The Legal Assistant works closely with paralegals and attorneys on the legal team to support Planet Fitness' corporate and franchise clubs. The Legal Assistant supports litigation management, manages member claims, sends member notices, responds to subpoenas and other similar tasks.

 

The Legal Assistant assists the Contracts Manager in drafting and maintaining franchise-related documents, notices and maintaining supporting records.  The role offers a broad range of assignments and will give the Assistant the opportunity to engage with franchisees and team members across the business.

Responsibilities

• Manages member claims and club incident reporting, including collection of relevant documentation and communication with club staff and insurers• Prepares template-based contracts and notices in support of the Planet Fitness franchising business • Manages response to subpoenas • Assists with management of litigation documents • Collaborates with team members to respond to discovery requests• Drafts litigation holds• Drafts legal communications• Processes bankruptcy notices• Supports interdepartmental compliance efforts• Assists with departmental administrative tasks and one-off projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred• Ability to carefully draft form documents - attention to detail is a must• Interpersonal skills and relationship management experience are critical• Ambition to handle increasingly complex tasks and over time, increase skills and knowledge, including key legal concepts and terminology, and willingness to undertake relevant training• Previous experience working with Salesforce, or other similar customer relationship management platform, preferred• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, prior experience with iManage/FileSite a plus• Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives• Excellent presentation and written/oral communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization• Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally• Creative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization• Excellent leadership skills including the ability to build teams, motivate, guide, and mentor• Dedicated learner with a natural curiosity for consistent growth• Exhibits comfort, ease, and flexibility working in an extremely fast-paced ever-changing, deadline-driven environment• Cooperative team player with a strong work ethic, and upbeat, positive, “can-do” attitude!
