Overview
As a member of the Finance leadership team reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Senior Director of Procurement will play a critical role in shaping and executing the company's strategy to optimize procurement processes, drive cost efficiencies, and ensure the highest standards of quality and service across both direct/equipment and indirect procurement. This strategic leader will oversee the development and implementation of procurement initiatives that support the company's growth and strategic objectives while enhancing and contributing to overall business performance. The Senior Director will work closely with senior leadership across all functions to ensure that procurement strategies and outcomes align with organizational goals, driving both short-term and long-term success.
The Senior Director of Procurement will be responsible for leveraging innovative approaches, including emerging technologies, to continuously improve procurement operations, identifying key areas of opportunity to enhance supplier relationships, reduce costs, and mitigate risks. This role will also oversee the procurement analytics in conjunction with Operations, IT and Strategy, ensuring that data-driven insights guide strategic decision-making and strengthen the competitive position of Planet Fitness. By fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence, the Senior Director will ensure that procurement practices contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.

- Lead efforts to enhance supplier relationships, utilizing data and analytics to measure and address supplier performance and compliance.
- Analyze and optimize procurement procedures to ensure seamless, efficient, and cost-effective processes for both direct (equipment) and indirect purchases.
- Develop and maintain a robust procurement analytics framework, ensuring that data collection, analysis, and reporting processes are efficient and effective.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to innovate and improve the procurement function.

This role will work out of our Hampton, NH office on our hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy for both direct (equipment) and indirect purchases that aligns with Planet Fitness's overall strategic objectives and financial goals.
- Oversee the development of procurement policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring reliable service metrics.
- Lead the identification and implementation of cost-saving initiatives, ensuring optimal value from supplier relationships and procurement activities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align procurement strategies with broader organizational goals, driving both short-term and long-term success.
Category Management:
- Establish procurement guidelines that clearly define roles and responsibilities of category management for procurement personnel (direct/equipment, indirect, and corporate services & software).
- Develop comprehensive category database (i.e., spend and specification profiles, current supplier names, key contacts, and capabilities).
- Proactively identify savings opportunities in the total value paradigm (quality, service, price, and demand management).
- Oversee procurement teams members to ensure consistency across categories, including productivity initiatives, supplier management activities, performance metrics, and transaction support, where appropriate.
Supplier Management & Relationship Building:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and ensuring high standards of quality and service.
- Lead supplier performance management initiatives, including standardized scorecards, regular evaluations, feedback, and improvement plans.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that support the Planet Fitness's strategic objectives.
- Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain in conjunction with Operations team, ensuring continuity of equipment, supplies, and services while minimizing disruptions.
Procurement Process Optimization:
- Lead the continuous improvement of procurement processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implement procurement tools and systems to streamline operations and improve data accuracy and visibility, collaborating with IT and Strategy where necessary.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of procurement activities and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure the timely and accurate execution of procurement transactions, from requisition to payment.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Develop robust procurement analytics, leveraging data to inform strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
- Utilize data analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for cost reduction within the procurement function.
- Implement data-driven supplier performance management processes, ensuring objective evaluations and informed decision-making.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of procurement metrics and performance.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to innovate and enhance the procurement function.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead and inspire a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and results-driven performance.
- Provide coaching and development opportunities for team members, ensuring continuous growth and the ability to execute ambitious goals.
- Establish clear performance metrics for the team, tracking success across areas such as cost savings, supplier performance, and process efficiency.
- Encourage cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing to drive procurement excellence across the organization.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure that procurement goals align with broader company objectives, including revenue growth, market share, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or strategic sourcing, with a proven track record of success in driving cost savings, supplier performance, and procurement efficiency at a senior leadership level
- Proven experience in negotiating and drafting multi-million-dollar multi-year contracts with international counterparties
- Strong expertise in procurement analytics, with the ability to leverage data to optimize procurement performance and improve business outcomes
- History of leading cross-functional teams, ideally in a franchise environment, to achieve procurement objectives
- A passion for operational excellence, cost efficiency, and delivering value through strategic procurement practices
- Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including executives
- Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally
