CAD Designer – Civil Site Design (EV Charging Stations)

Job Description:
Our client has partnered with IONNA—a joint venture formed by some of the world’s largest automakers—to build out a nationwide EV charging network across the United States. As part of this high-impact initiative, we are seeking a CAD Designer to join the Design/Build Team or the Communications Utility Team based in Raleigh, NC.
This role focuses on 2D civil site layout drawings for EV charging station installations at existing commercial and retail locations such as gas stations, convenience stores, coffee shops, and chain restaurants. No EV-specific experience is necessary—just solid experience in commercial or retail site civil design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create accurate 2D site layout plans using AutoCAD, focused on parking lot modifications, grading, and stormwater design.
- Interpret site surveys, utility data, and topographic information to generate construction-ready site plans.
- Incorporate standardized electrical layouts into the designs, including ADA-compliant parking requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and utility teams to ensure site layouts meet project and code requirements.
- Work within a design/build delivery model, assisting in the planning and permitting phases.
- Potential to cross-functionally support wireless telecom-style site planning projects with similar civil layout requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD with a strong background in 2D civil site design.
- Experience with commercial or retail site development (e.g., gas stations, QSRs, shopping centers, etc.).
- Understanding of grading, stormwater, and parking lot design, including ADA requirements.
- Ability to interpret and work from site surveys and civil engineering documents.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred:
- Experience with telecom site design or wireless infrastructure projects involving site layouts.
- Associate degree in drafting, design technology, civil engineering technology, or related field (not required, but preferred).
