What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hydrogeologist position at Planet Forward?
Our client has an immediate opening for a Hydrogeologist/Geologist with experience related to permitting, planning, monitoring, contaminant investigations, and reporting for solid waste facilities and industrial sites in the Midwest, primarily in Michigan. The position will be a hybrid position, depending on the candidate’s preference and project needs. The primary role for this position will be to provide project and client management and to help grow the solid waste business in the region, through existing client base as well as through new opportunities. Their solid waste services include subsurface explorations and analysis, hydrogeologic reporting and monitoring programs, solid waste facility permitting, site design, wastewater management including permitting, disposal, and on-site treatment, as well as other related fields such as renewable energy and facilities.
They have many established clients with on-going relationships and consecutive projects, but are also seeking to grow in several service areas and geographical regions. Clients include both private companies and municipalities.
Your Role:
- Manage and/or work with multi-disciplinary project teams, and work within a group and independently.
- Manage complex projects, including the management, coordination and review of subcontractors, budgets, and schedules.
- Communicate with clients and regulators to keep scope, expectations, and budget up to date.
- Manage staff through coaching and mentoring to foster excellence and growth for all team members.
- Develop new business using existing or new client relationships, through public presentations, conference attendance, site meetings, etc.
- Prepare project proposals, including cost modeling, staff assignments, and business development/client interaction to support growth of the remediation services sector.
- Review and assess large amounts of project data and distill it for reporting and audience understanding, to direct project development and selection of solutions.
- Use technology tools to perform job functions, including MS Windows, specifically Word, Excel and Teams.
- Implement other software such as AutoCAD, MS Access, MS Project, HEC RAS, EnviroInsite, Arc-GIS, Sanitas, or other related software to complete project tasks.
- Qualifications:Bachelor's degree (MS preferred) in Geology, Hydrogeology, or other related field.
- 6 years of experience in hydrogeology, geology, environmental engineering, subsurface investigations, and remediation services.
- Experience in subsurface investigations, data analysis and technical evaluation, monitoring plans, and reporting.
- Familiarity with current Michigan EGLE Solid Waste regulations and permit requirements, and ability to converse and respond to regulators to meet those requirements.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
- Prior management experience with demonstrated skills to assess client needs, develop staff capabilities, make recommendations, and help grow the client base.
- Established client relationships or industry contacts will be a plus but is not required.
Salary : $80 - $120
