Now Hiring: Senior Engineer – Hydro Power Generation
Location: Stanley, NC
Duration: 3 Years Contract
Pay Rate: $50 - $60/hour
Per Diem: $68/day worked (if traveling 50 miles) or $178/day worked (if staying in a hotel or receiving lodging)
Schedule: Hybrid with 5-15% travel
Position Overview
We are seeking Senior Engineer candidate to support hydro power generation projects in Stanley, NC facilities. These engineers will provide technical expertise in power plant operations, substation switchyard design, high-voltage equipment, and system protection. The roles require a blend of technical problem-solving, project management, and engineering analysis to ensure reliable power generation and system integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and technical expertise for identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems related to hydro power systems.
- Develop and oversee nuclear substation switchyard designs and high-voltage equipment specifications.
- Perform engineering studies, design evaluations, and system protection analysis using ETAP or SKM software.
- Conduct arc flash studies, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches for engineering solutions.
- Lead and support projects related to power generation, hydro systems, and plant equipment.
- Apply engineering theories and principles to develop sound recommendations and implement improvements.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and budget management to align with business goals.
- Maintain accurate records and files, ensuring proper documentation of project progress and technical findings.
- Develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating effective oral and written communication skills.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program OR state registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience with a PE OR 6 years of experience without a PE.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with hydro power generation or power plant engineering.
- Hands-on experience with high-voltage equipment and substation switchyard design.
- Familiarity with ETAP or SKM software for electrical system modeling.
- Arc flash and system protection expertise.
- Strong background in specification development and technical writing.
- 10 years of discipline-related experience in engineering, utilities, or power generation.
