Overview
We are a fast-growing FinTech startup seeking a detail-oriented and independent Accounting Associate to support our CFO and COO with bookkeeping, audit preparation, and payroll-related tasks. This role is essential in ensuring our financial records are accurate and audit-ready, and it offers a high level of autonomy in a dynamic, small team environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Support (Primary Focus)
- Manage day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable/receivable and expense tracking.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing audit documentation and financial summaries.
- Support payroll processing and related compliance filings (e.g., payroll tax reporting).
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or Xero).
- Collaborate with external accountants and tax professionals as needed.
- Assist in cash flow tracking and month-end close activities.
HR & Compliance Support (Preferred Experience)
- Help ensure payroll tax filings are complete and accurate.
- Maintain payroll records and assist with employee reimbursements.
- Support onboarding financial documentation and compliance checklists.
Light Administrative Support (As Needed)
- Coordinate occasional vendor communication and invoice tracking.
- Assist with documentation organization related to financial or compliance matters.
- Provide scheduling or logistical support for audit-related meetings or CFO/COO requests.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or audit preparation
- Familiarity with payroll processes and payroll tax reporting is a plus
- Proficient in QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting tools
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment is a bonus.
Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000 - $65,000 annual base salary
