Forklift Operator
Function
Dispatches and operates various Company vehicles such as a battery powered delivery carts, forklifts or boom vehicle, or a single unit vehicle used for hoisting, lifting and positioning material/equipment or delivering material/equipment as directed. The operator directs the loading and unloading of the assigned loads to ensure safe, timely, accurate transportation/delivery of each load and accurate maintenance of all records and documents.

The operator directs the loading and unloading of the assigned loads to ensure safe, timely, accurate transportation/delivery of each load and accurate maintenance of all records and documents.
Duties
- Responsible for the movement of power trucks, and panel body trucks for pickup and delivery of materials, parts, tools, and equipment on and off Company premises and out of town.
- Ensures the proper loading, transportation and unloading of all materials, tools and other items including critical hardware involving special handling with powered equipment.
- Ensures timely movement and proper status (paper or electronic) is maintained for all materials, tools, and other items in the assigned delivery/pickup load.
- Receives calls or notice via electronic means from departments within the plant requesting the movement of materials, parts, or tools. Obtains the necessary information relative to pickup, type of load, special equipment required and similar data and assigns the appropriate type of equipment to handle the job. Makes a personal observation of the job when necessary to obtain additional information regarding the job. Works within the department to identify any special handling or precautions required with certain loads and schedules the flow of work. In addition, routes the assignments in the most efficient manner to economize on the movement and utilization of available equipment.
- Coordinate within the department movement of goods to specific vehicles by priority, weight of the load and type of vehicle.
- Keep vehicles in safe, clean, and orderly appearance. Performs and documents a daily inspection of any power equipment utilized to perform task. Provides supervision with any safety issues and/or maintenance requirements on any equipment used in the loading and/or transporting material.
- Maintains all material movements via electronic means.
- Follow all safety laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Must hold and maintain current driver's license
- Must comply with all Federal, State and company regulations.
- Must have the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Visual acuity to 20/20 with corrective lenses required.
- Competently able to use computers and other systems to access, maintain, and input data.
