PPMT Clinical Assistants are advocates who implement our mission to “empower all people to make private reproductive health care decisions by providing quality health care, medically accurate education, and advocacy for individual rights.”  


JOB SUMMARY

Under immediate supervision of the Health Center Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) serves as the initial contact with our patients, representing Planned Parenthood of Montana (PPMT)’s commitment to excellent customer service. Responsibilities include front desk reception, insurance verification/and or payment processing, basic lab duties, injections, assisting with procedures as applicable (including abortion), patient education, and administrative tasks that support an efficient, patient-focused clinic environment. 

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

HOURS: 40 Hours per week

PAY: $27.00/hour entry. Rates are based on experience and credentialing!

INCOME PROTECTION:

Basic Life & AD&D with salary coverage starts within 90 days of employment that PPMT pays for. Supplemental Life & AD&D offered. Long-Term and Short-Term Disability is 66.66% of earnings and PPMT pays this benefit.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Greet and register patients for clinic services, answer phones, direct calls, and conduct phone screening.
  • Perform computer data entry, including patient demographics and vitals, insurance information, charge posting, appointment scheduling, and labs.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with procedures (i.e. Colposcopy, Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP), Cryotherapy and Surgical abortion – including lab)
  • Prepare exam rooms, perform patient set-up, and take and record patient vitals in Electronic Health Record System (EHRS).
  • Conduct basic patient education session including medically accurate, unbiased explanation of all FDA approved birth control methods. Provide specific instruction on the client’s selected birth control method.
  • Ensure all patients are provided with information regarding donations, and are asked for a donation at the time of checkout.
  • Clean instruments, order and stock supplies, and perform inventory functions.
  • Inform callers in a non-biased manner about all options available to them in the event of an unintended pregnancy and make an appointment/referral for service based on the caller’s needs.
  • Describe the difference between medication and surgical abortion.
  • Provide factual, unbiased information to clients seeking abortion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compliance 
  • Ensure that all Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), PPMT, federal, state, and any other regulatory agency medical practices and protocols are interpreted, implemented, and managed by all health care center staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), National Abortion Federation (NAF), and PPMT policies and standard operating procedures. (Including but not limited to MS&Gs, customer standards, quality assurance, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), personnel, fiscal, risk management, safety, security, pharmacy, and Payment Card Industry (PCI)). • Participate in the Quality Risk Management Program.
  • Clients shall not be subject to coercion in use of any particular method of family planning.
  • Staff may be subject to prosecution if they coerce, or they try to coerce any person to undergo abortion or sterilization procedures. 


Qualifications
  • Education and/or Experience 
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse Training
  • Current State of Montana Licensed Practical Nurse license

  • Preferred Experience 
  • Reproductive health care experience
  • Experience utilizing an EHRS
