Compensation Starting at :

  • Position Salary Range $ 109,315.67 - $ 138,477.81 Per Year
  • Starting Pay Although our full pay range is included above, the budgeted hiring range for this position is $ 109,315.67 - $ 123,896.74 Per Year.

  • The Objective : Working in close collaboration with the Regional Advanced Practice Manager, the Regional Operations Manager and other key teams, you will ensure that care provided to patients at your assigned health centers is of the highest quality, and clinical evidence and practice guidelines, delivered in a cost-effective manner. You will implement and manage an integrated risk evaluation and mitigation program for your health centers and ensure compliance with the requirements of regulatory, accrediting, and funding bodies

    Success : You will know you are successful when you are working collaboratively with other departments to ensure the affiliate provides market-leading, evidence-based, cost effective sexual and reproductive health care with a low risk profile and high patient and staff satisfaction. Success is measured against benchmarks for quality indicators, key performance indicators, performance objectives and key results.

    Snapshot : The role is mostly remote and partially based in our health centers, requiring local travel a few times a month and less frequent travel regionally with occasional overnight stays. Most of the work involves obtaining and analyzing data from direct observations of health center operations and clinical practice, audits, chart reviews, incident reports and other sources to monitor the quality of care, identify exposures to risk, and to apply these data to develop and implement quality improvement and risk mitigation programs at your health centers and throughout the affiliate. Approximately one-third of your time will be spent interacting with patients, clinicians, support staff, and other leaders in our health centers throughout Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada and virtually. You may provide direct patient care for up to 20% of your full-time equivalent. The remainder of your time will be devoted to adding and expanding clinical services, launching new initiatives, supporting change management, and other special projects. The CQR Manager will be assigned to a specific regional group of health centers but will also be called upon to support health centers outside of their region and the affiliate at large.

    Qualifications :

  • Advanced practice nurse (NP, CNM, or CNS) or physician (MD / DO) with an active license to practice in Colorado, New Mexico or Nevada, and eligible for licensure in all three states as well as Wyoming.
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Master's Degree or Doctoral degree in nursing, medicine, or a relevant health care field.
  • 2-5 years of clinical practice as an advanced practice professional or physician in a relevant field
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Prior experience in nursing professional development or health care education is preferred
  • Experience or working knowledge of Just Culture in healthcare.
  • Prior leadership experience or experience as an educator, or risk manager
  • Ability to represent management and drive agency priorities forward
  • Experience with database management, project management, data collection and analysis or research
  • Ability to travel across our region to assigned health centers several times per month.

  • Primary Areas of Responsibility / Essential Functions :

    Risk Evaluation and Mitigation : You are responsible for the implementation and maintenance of systems to recognize, prioritizing and manage the risks and uncertainties of clinical care at your assigned health centers that can affect the organization's mission, clinical enterprise, financial security, and brand reputation.

  • Implement systems for data collection and analysis designed to recognize and prioritize potential risks and uncertainties for mitigation.
  • Ensure that key partners including the Regional Operations Managers, Regional Advanced Practice Managers, and health center staff remain apprised of potential risks and uncertainties along with related remediation efforts within your pod.
  • Work to proactively mitigate risk through the implementation of specific action plans and more general systems for risk reduction that align with the affiliate's mission, objectives, and risk tolerance.
  • Manage the response to risk events that occur within your assigned health centers to alleviate or moderate the impacts, support related litigation, and reduce the probability of future recurrence.
  • Conduct peer review and root cause analysis of sentinel patient events
  • Ensure that risk events are reported to appropriate entities including the Affiliate Risk Management Service (ARMS), the National Insurance Program, and all relevant federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to promote a just culture of safety and accountability
  • Support hiring teams to ensure that candidates for licensed positions possess the appropriate training, certification, clinical experience and background to ensure safe practice at the affiliate.
  • Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement : Ensure that the care provided by clinicians and non-licensed support staff is of the highest quality, aligned with best practices derived from the current evidence, and is consistent with our mission and values.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of Quality Indicator Metrics (QIM), key performance indicators (KPI), performance objectives and key results (OKR) for the clinical operation that align with those of the Federation. Maintain a quality dashboard for your assigned health centers.
  • Monitor all aspects of patient care to ensure alignment with internal and external quality indicators.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Advanced Practice Managers to prevent or remediate practice gaps and deficiencies to improve patient outcomes, prevent errors, and reduce costs.
  • Support the development and manage the implementation of quality assurance and improvement projects that achieve the QI, KPI, and OKR targets.
  • Oversee the creation and operationalization of initiatives directed at continuous improvement of systems and processes to align patient care with current evidence, Medical Standards, and Guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide direct support to the Clinical Train team to ensure that training and onboarding for patient-facing staff supports evidence-based practice, regulatory compliance, and high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
  • When the position is fulfilled by a licensed independent provider, at the discretion of the Director of Clinical Quality and Risk Management they will have the opportunity to provide direct patient care for up to 20% of their FTE in support of maintaining quality in their own practice and observing health center operations.
  • Regulatory and Accreditation Compliance : Working in close collaboration with the clinical leadership team and the operations team you will be responsible for ensuring that your assigned health centers and staff maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards to secure our mission.

  • Operationalize systems and strategies to ensure that the leaders and staff possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to comply with the requirements of all applicable regulatory bodies to clinical care including but not limited to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), relevant federal, municipal, and state statutes, and State Boards of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy in the affiliate states.
  • Implement strategies, systems, and processes to ensure and verify that your assigned heath centers maintain compliance with the regulations of the relevant bodies above and direct the implementation of these strategies, systems, and processes through the CQR Team
  • Maintain a continuous state of accreditation readiness at your assigned health center and support readiness throughout the affiliate.
  • Provide clinical support and oversight through the accreditation process including document submission and review, interviews, and the onsite evaluation. In the event of any findings related to clinical operations or patient care, you will manage the implementation of corrective action(s), ensures the remediation effort is appropriately documented and submitted to the Federation, and that the related changes and impacts are maintained at your health centers.
  • Collaborate with health center managers and Regional Advanced Practice Managers to ensure that your assigned health centers recruit and hire licensed healthcare professionals whose training, certification, experience and background supports credentialing and regulatory compliance.
  • In collaboration with other clinical leaders, you will support the development, triannual revision, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the affiliates Medical Standards and Guidelines.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of clinical policy, procedure, guidelines, and protocols that support staff in providing high-quality, evidence-based care that is aligned with regulatory and accreditation standards, best-practice guidelines, and which minimizes risk while reducing risk and promoting cost effective care
