Success: You will know you are successful when the check-in and check-out experience facilitates an accurate medical record, excellent patient experience, and optimized billing.
Snapshot: You will spend much of your day sitting and working on the computer, moving around the health center as needed, and collaborating with colleagues and interacting with patients and community members. You will work with the patient chart, insurance, and billing and will need to handle sensitive information with care and accuracy, and you will need to handle cash and other payment methods. You will be required to operate in a highly regulated medical and laboratory environment, keeping strict confidentiality, infection control, and medical protocols. You will lift boxes and unpack supplies. You will work with vulnerable patient populations.
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must obtain and maintain BLS certification within six weeks of hire.

Primary Areas of Responsibility/Essential Functions:
Medical Reception: You will be the face of the health center, welcoming patients and visitors, upholding security protocols, and facilitating accurate patient records and billing.
- Facilitate patient registration activities through a registration system or through manual collection.
- Facilitate patient check in and check out including verifying insurance and financial estimates for services rendered.
- Collect payment for services rendered in accordance with revenue cycle and subsidy utilization policies.
- Complete routine bookkeeping tasks, ensuring accurate accounting and documentation for all patient payments, donations, grants, and funding sources.
- Promote patient portal adoption.
- Coordinate scheduling and referrals.
- Screen visitors according to protocols.
- Participate in health center security.
- Perform reception activities including but not limited to answering phones and scheduling patient appointments.
- Complete targeted patient appointment reminder calls.
- Coordinate receiving and sending medical records.
- Facilitate medication and supply patient pick-up, as appropriate, according to regulations.
Operations: You will assist with the upkeep of the health center operations in a variety of ways to facilitate all aspects of patient care, maintaining an organized and effective worksite, and jump in to support the team.
- Act as a mandatory reporter per state and regulatory requirements.
- Support patient follow-up which may include contacting patients by telephone, or electronic communications.
- Assist with monitoring and ordering supplies to maintain accurate inventory of medications and materials required to ensure Health Center operations.
- Assist with routine health center upkeep and cleaning, including stocking exam rooms with necessary supplies.
- Contribute to research such as introducing opportunities for studies as patients check in, while rooming patients, etc.
- Execute side tasks including but not limited to Birth Control by Mail, records release, special fund tracking, etc.
Abortion Care: We all work in abortion care, whether it is referrals, information, education, counseling, performing, scheduling, etc. In this role, you will provide direct care and services for patients who have or may be seeking abortion care with PPRM.
COVID-19 Protocol: Vaccination against COVID-19 will no longer be a condition of employment. However, all Health Center/Patient or Community Facing Employees, must have the COVID vaccine or wear a mask at all times beginning November 1st. Proof must be uploaded upon hire. You will upload a picture or pdf of your vaccination card(s) prior to your start date.
Flu Protocol: All employees working directly with patients, the community or working in a health center will be required to have the flu shot or wear a mask during patient/community contact or while in the health center from November 1 – April 30 each year (Flu Season).
