JOB SUMMARY:
Works with the Clinical Training Center (CTC) team to create an environment of learning and excellence whereby participants develop baseline skills. This position and the team will ensure optimal service delivery, patient experience and clinical quality in accordance with the PPSWO Medical Standards and Guidelines.
This position supports training at PPSWO by ensuring that all clinical trainings are compliant with medical protocols and Federal/State regulations, are well-documented and regularly audited for effectiveness, and that coordination with health center managers, staff, and other teams is timely and fosters strong collaborative relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Creates an environment that supports learning and testing of skills to optimize the participants’ ability to gain the skills and abilities needed to enter the health center:
a. Partner with training staff to review and approve training outlines and modules. Develop curriculum and training materials as needed.
b. Ensures clinical onboarding of new health center staff is completed and that the participants have a full understanding of the function. Additionally ensures that staff are appropriately cross-trained and assists in the completion of the annual skills assessment for all staff.
c. Assists with the development, training, and piloting of new health services.
d. Partner with Health Center Managers and other departments to ensure optimal service delivery and patient experience by reviewing and evaluating training materials, maintaining up-to-date policies and procedures, and providing clinical consultation and workflow support.
e. Assist in ensuring the highest quality patient care in compliance with PPSWO Medical Standards and Guidelines, Policies and Procedures, customer service standards and any additional requirements from other State and Federal regulatory bodies.
f. Maintain current knowledge of reproductive health including but not limited to vital signs; phlebotomy; birth control methods, sexually transmitted infections, testing, and results; gender-affirming care; HIV and PrEP; abortion; recovery room; sterile technique; vasectomy; EHR; clinic structure; and affiliate protocols, policies, and procedures as required for optimum training development effectiveness.
g. Serve as a mentor and clinical resource to newly hired HCAs, LPNs and RNs. Provide support and guidance.
2. FRONT OFFICE (check if front office): Actively engage with the health center team to provide high-quality patient care.
a. Respond to patient telephone calls giving basic information, scheduling appointments and discussing fees in a professional manner according to Planned Parenthood guidelines.
b. Complete patient registration and check-out in patient management system.
c. Daily: scrub schedule, complete insurance verifications, and make reminder calls as needed.
d. Provide patient information including review of exam findings and provide, as appropriate, supplies, birth control method instruction, referrals and follow-up appointments as directed by clinician.
e. Provide STI, birth control, HIV, PEP/PrEP, and GAC education as needed.
f. Understand and participate in referral and follow-up process in consultation with clinician and health center manager.
g. Release and request medical records in compliance with policy and protocol.
h. Participate in maintaining general upkeep of the facility by keeping lobbies, reception area and other rooms tidy and disinfected.
i. Surgery center only: Prior to surgery, provide supportive education, assure informed consent, and complete necessary forms for patient records.
3. BACK OFFICE (check if back office): Actively engage with the health center team to provide high-quality patient care.
a. Perform lab work appropriate to the visit type following CLIA and OSHA guidelines.
b. Maintain appropriate lab records following CLIA and OSHA guidelines.
c. Handle lab specimens according to OSHA and safety guidelines.
d. Collect vitals, perform blood draws, venipunctures, injections and STI screenings in accordance with protocols and guidelines.
e. Conduct client intake in patient management system providing contraceptive and reproductive health care education, including STI’s, HIV, PEP/PrEP and Gender Affirming Care (GAC).
f. Review patient medical, reproductive, family, and social history and note specific issues for clinician to address during visit.
g. Complete all necessary information in the patient’s electronic health record and ensure documentation and informed consents are completed and filed.
h. Determine financial responsibility through fee assessments and complete forms and data entry as necessary.
i. Assist the clinician as needed during the patient visit.
j. Review exam findings with patients as appropriate including instructions, follow up appointments and referrals.
k. Ensure exam rooms are fully stocked, cleaned/disinfected and ready for use.
l. Stock supplies and maintain lab equipment.
m. Complete daily, weekly and monthly quality assurance checks as outlined in policies and protocols.
4.Travel within the affiliate to oversee training, offer input and evaluation, and/or provide clinical support.
5.Assist with audits of medical services and in the dissemination of results and action plans.
6.Ensure effective communication between the Patient Services administrative team and Health Centers.
7.Work with HR and Patient Services administrative teams to track training needs and requirements for staff.
8.Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

•Current CPR/BLS certification.
•Competent associated clinical skills and clinical training experience or a combination of both including reproductive health, health education, and clinical training.

•Travel is required to all health center sites as needed.

•High school diploma or GED. College degree in health care field and experience in a healthcare setting and/or family planning clinic preferred.
•Able to speak and write English. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
•Expertise using Microsoft Office products is required.
•Ability to communicate professionally with individuals of diverse backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
•Basic clerical and math skills required.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sensitivity in dealing with clients sexuality and reproductive healthcare choices.
•Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and Saturdays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Ability to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, sit, talk, hear, stand, bend, walk; use hands and fingers, handle or operate objects, reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
•Ability to get to the work site; also other PPSWO health centers and meetings when required.
•May be exposed to communicable diseases and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV.
•May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.
