The Director Planning Frameworks is a new position providing leadership and strategic direction in relation to oversight and continuous improvement of the planning system. As the Director Planning Frameworks, you are responsible for providing high-level advice and expertise to the Chief Planning Advisor and supporting the Western Australian Planning Commission, Minister for Planning, Director General, Portfolio, Executives, and relevant stakeholders. You will also manage the operational performance of the Planning Frameworks team.
This is a permanent full-time position. This recruitment process may be used to fill future similar roles that arise across the WA public sector in the next 12 months.
To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate :
- An accredited tertiary degree qualification in Urban and Regional Planning and / or Development. Accreditation as a Registered Planner (or equivalent) will be highly regarded.
- Detailed working knowledge of the Western Australian planning system and planning framework.
- Extensive experience working in the Western Australian planning system, including demonstrated experience in both the implementation and design of planning frameworks (statutory and strategic planning) and a strong understanding of planning law.
- The ability to collaborate and establish and maintain strong and effective working relationships with key stakeholders to optimise engagement, negotiation, and to help shape and inform the design and delivery of planning initiatives and actions.
