SMT Operator

Description

Reporting structure:

· Reports to SMT Supervisor

Overall position description:

· Responsible for the operation of Solder Paste Printers, Pick and Place Machines and Reflow Machines. Assist with hand placement of components when required 

Requirements

Essential functions of the job:

· Understand and use BOM Reports

· Load Machine Feeders with correct components

· Set-up and operate solder paste printers 

· Set-up and operate Pick and Place machines

· Perform Reflow operations using correct profiles

· Hand place correct components

· Complete daily logbook and first article inspection logs

· Help with equipment preventive maintenance items

· Keep supervisor informed on job status and downtime affecting the job  

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

· Understand and execute instructions from SMT supervisor

· Be able read and understand work instructions, boms, and drawings

· Be a fit for our team culture, communicate professionally, assist supervisor

· Good computer skills, has worked with MS Office, specifically Excel  

Required education and experience:

· Preferred high School Diploma or 1-2 years’ experience in similar field

· Preferred 1-3 years of SMT operation or electronics assembly experience

· IPC 610 or J-Standard certifications a plus

A description of the physical demands:

· Able to stand or sit to operate machines for standard 8-hour shift

· Ability to hand place small components on circuit card assemblies

· Adequate vision to check quality of pasted boards and hand placed components

· Electronics manufacturing environment, following industry standard ESD and FOD controls
