Combine your skills and ability and help us grow for the future! Plant Marketing is looking for 2-3 individuals to join our company as an Assistant/Section Growers and to be responsible for producing and maintaining high quality crops.

POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant/Section Grower assists in the growing, care, and maintenance of Plant Marketing’s primary crops. These crops include spring annuals, vegetables, and perennials. We also grow seasonal crops of Easter lilies, fall mums, and poinsettias. The Assistant/Section Grower will assist the Head Grower by maintaining a portion of the overall greenhouse production.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

· Monitor growing conditions and make suggestions for changes to environmental conditions to ensure optimal crop performance.

· Monitor plant development to identify the existence of pests or disease and report or make suggestions for treating or removing substandard plants to maintain quality standards.

· Apply fertilizers and chemicals as directed by the grower and in accordance with all safety/regulatory standards.

· Ensure area is clean and in good upkeep. Correct or report deficiencies as necessary.

· Look to expand current knowledge of growing techniques and technologies.

· Have some knowledge of major plant groups and be aware of their culture and growth habits.

· Adaptability and multi‐tasking; experience working in a fast moving environment.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

· Some combination of horticulture or related education and/or 2 to 4 years of related work experience preferred.

· Knowledge of the safe handling and application of chemicals a plus.

· The ability to speak Spanish as a primary or secondary language is a plus.

OTHER/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to work in conditions typically found in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures. Ability to be on feet while performing job responsibilities.

· Ability to lift 15‐50 pounds occasionally.

· Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Wisconsin pesticide handler license.

· This position requires a 40 hour work week and requires weekend work during peak seasons and as otherwise necessary.
