What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Lead - Liquids position at Plant Science?
Position Summary:
The Production Lead works directly on the liquid bottling and pouching line, operating equipment and performing production tasks while supporting team coordination and shift execution. This hands-on role ensures efficient line operation, assists in staffing assignments, and is responsible for closing out work orders in the ERP system at the end of each run.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate bottling and pouching equipment as a core part of the production line team.
- Set the pace and standard for shift performance by working alongside operators to meet daily targets.
- Support the Production Supervisor by helping coordinate staffing assignments and shift coverage.
- Monitor product quality, equipment function, and material flow during production runs.
- Complete and close out work orders in the ERP system, including yield entries, downtime tracking, and material consumption.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment and resolving minor production issues to reduce downtime.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety, GMP, and company quality standards.
- Train new or rotating team members on basic line functions and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready production area.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment, preferably with liquid products.
- Prior experience operating production line equipment (bottling, pouching, or similar).
- Prior experience working with staffing agencies and managing teams.
- Comfortable using ERP systems to complete work order documentation.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to lead by example on the floor.
- Basic troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Able to lift 50 lbs, work on your feet for extended periods, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
