What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Manager/Marketing Lead position at Plantshop?
The Purchasing Manager/Marketing Lead will have knowledge of cannabis and willingness to try all kinds of products. They will utilize a successful track record of buying experience to enhance the overall mission of bringing the best products to the local community and beyond. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for budtending and leading a sales team while also managing daily purchasing activities that drive towards the organization's strategic goals: enhanced sales, improved margins, and a world-class customer experience. You will also be responsible for creating Weekly Deals and creating content to market the deals to our audience over several marketing channels such as Weedmaps, our website, social media and text/email marketing.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the purchasing process, ensuring timely procurement of goods and services.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and quality.
- Manage supplier relationships and evaluate vendor performance to optimize sourcing strategies.
- Budtending and inventory management
- Collaborate with in house manufacturing team to align purchasing strategies with supply chain objectives.
- Monitor market trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly to maintain competitiveness.
- Create Weekly Deals and Content to market to our audience
- Perform monthly inventory audits
Our ideal candidate:
- An experienced budtender willing with a high cannabis tolerance willing to consume and review products
- Creates purchasing strategies that correlate to the financial goals of Plantshop
- Develops strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure consistent access to product for our patients
- Anticipates potential problems and risks; generates ideas, insights and solutions to resolve potential problems. Proposes and executes solutions for issues identified during analysis of data
- Establishes and maintains a reputation of credibility and responsiveness in the marketplace
- Elicits critical information from vendors with regards to market trends and current buying activity of competitors and presents findings effectively
- Responsible for managing the full lifecycle of buying product innovation, vendor meetings, costing negotiations, executive reporting, pricing analysis, promotional calendars, and product exit strategies
- Builds reports to enhance decision making at all levels of the organization. Reports will include best sellers, promotional expectations, and category performance
- Manages all data entry for promotions and discounts that change weekly
- Understands the competitive landscape of the cannabis industry
- Manage appropriate inventory levels to ensure dispensaries can exceed sales expectations
- Ability to create on brand content to promote weekly deals
- Graphic design skills are a plus.
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have at least two years experience budtending and working in a dispensary
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 18 – 35 per week

- 4 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Morning shift
- Weekends as needed
