SALARY RANGE: 27,294 - 45,014
Ad Valorem - 2.40 parish property (ad valorem) tax mills are dedicated to employee salaries. The annual receipts from this tax are distributed to employees twice a year, one-half in January and one-half in June. The amount of each employee’s supplement is the employee’s salary multiplied by the annual percentage (computed each year based on actual tax revenues).
Belle Chasse High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to support our English Language Learner (ELL) students. This position involves working closely with students to help them achieve academic success in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will assist ELL students in understanding course material, develop their language skills, and foster an environment of cultural inclusivity. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist ELL students in understanding and completing class assignments and activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to implement appropriate instructional strategies.
- Support students in adjusting to new learning environment.
- Assist with classroom management and create a positive, supportive learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree or 48 College Hours or passing Score on the ParaPro Praxis Test
- Good organizational skills in order to maintain paper and computerized files while maintaining confidentiality of information and records
- Strong oral, written, computer and interpersonal communcation skills along with the appropriate maturity necessary to work effectively
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned as part of the job assignment and job requirements
- Willing to receive and implement additional trainings and/or certifications as deemed necessary.
- Frequent requirements that will include standing, walking, stooping/kneeling, heavy lifting of students and/or crouching.
- Bilingual skills are a plus (especially in Spanish).
