What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Plas-Tech Engineering?
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for issuing and delivering raw materials, components, packaging, etc. to the production floor and returning materials back into inventory after job completion. Maintains records for tracking inventory and follows procedures to ensure database accuracy.
Hours:
Rotating schedule, 6am-6pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Process material issuance to the shop floor as required by work order and/or Set Up Techs. Check weights and counts of all inventory being moved to the press for accuracy. Record appropriate inventory transactions
2. Retrieve production from staging area and move finished product to warehouse. Record all transactions
3. Each hour, look at dryer levels and fill as necessary. Also, look at scrap at press and regrind when bins are full.
4. After job is complete, weigh and return all materials back to inventory. Reconcile the press location with Shipping, after product is moved, to be sure there is nothing left over in IQMS.
5. Operate material handling equipment to move stock or reorganize storage
6. Help develop and maintain procedures for inventory control and database accuracy
7. Complete cycle counting program according to established procedure
8. Perform other duties as assigned by Manufacturing Supervisor
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Has high school education or equivalent. Skill in operating forklift and other material handling equipment with basic to intermediate background in material control procedures and methods
Language Skills
Has strong written and verbal control of the English language and ability to communicate effectively with others and be clearly understood
Mathematical Skills
The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure including whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Reasoning Ability
Has the ability to interpret and solve practical problems related to production duties. Ability to interpret a variety of inputs furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Has basic mechanical aptitude and exhibits sound judgment
Computer Operations
Intermediate personal computer skills experienced at Microsoft Office applications (except PowerPoint) with demonstrated proficiency of ERP systems
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
