As a result of our rapid growth and expanding operations, we have an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Weld Tooling. Our regular work schedule is a four day, 10-hour schedule Monday - Thursday, however, we are working Friday and some Saturdays due to launch requirements.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Required Tasks)

Seldom climbing, bending and squatting.

While performing this job, the employee is commonly exposed to noise, heat, and dust. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and toxic or caustic chemicals. PPE is required in this area.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Required Tasks)
- Applies knowledge of product design, assembly, tooling, process and materials while working to develop or improve manufacturing processes to meet customer quality requirements
- Assist in defining and evaluating tooling requirements for use in manufacturing process.
- Provide technical disposition of non-conforming parts (NCR’s) through MRB
- Support root cause analysis through 8D process to eliminate quality issues
- Develop manufacturing processes and tooling design for composite and metal working parts fabrication, plan manufacturing work flow and create manufacturing documentation
- Provide technical leadership to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing while meeting production rate and startup time. This includes technical training of manufacturing lead person to associated manufacturing documentation
- Support first article / PPAP as required
- Participates in the continuous improvement process by improving manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Conduct engineering trials and prototype builds as required
- Participates in creation of bid and proposals for RFQ submissions as needed
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships & communication across functional organizations
- Support internal documentation systems in accordance with ISO 9002-2015
- Adhere to all safety rules and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or a related engineering field is required
- Five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Good working knowledge of metal works processes (laser cutting, brake press forming, GMAW and TIG welding), armor steel materials and manufacturing methods
- Continuous improvement experience with composite and metal working manufacturing processes and tooling
- Previous experience and knowledge of hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, adhesive bonding, techniques; including autoclave and hot press methods a plus.
- Current and diverse knowledge of applicable engineering practices along with the proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously is desired
- Professional communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills
- Strong knowledge of materials and processes used in armor and tactical vehicle manufacturing is preferred. Relevant topic areas include:
- Composites (armor steel, aramid, ceramics)
- Metal Working (laser, sandblast, bend, weld, cnc machine)
- Industry appropriate Design validation techniques
- Industry appropriate Process validation techniques
- Modern (APQP) Quality Systems requirements
- PPAP
- Demonstrated strong root cause analysis and technical troubleshooting skills will be an important part of this job function
- Experience in configuration and change management (engineering change requests, orders, implementation)
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Project software is required
- Oracle ERP is a plus
