Description
SUMMARY :
Provide both hardware and software support utilizing an in-depth understanding of mechanical, electromechanical, and software engineering. Coordinates activities involved in the system integration process to realize system development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Engineering
- Researches and analyzes integration of new components into the existing product following process requirements, specifications, provided by systems and software engineering
- Operates software test stand for benchmarking robotics and wafer transfer issues
- Assists in optimization and throughput characterization and analysis
- Provides support to software and project engineers in the development of new hardware and software solutions
- Develops retrofits to upgrade customers' existing control system hardware sets
- Works with vendors on component failures and continuous improvement.
Testing
Organizes test plans created by software developers and use them to test softwareIdentifies software defects to the module levelTests software releases before final approval for shipment is issuedTests and setup new and used hardware prior to shipment to customerDocumentation
Archives and update internal design documentationMaintains records detailing software version and configuration history for each systemInterfaces with technical writing staff to assist with documentation delivered to customersMaintains electronic documentation installed on customer toolsCreates work instructions for various tasks (e.g. installing / upgrading software or hardware, etc.)Manufacturing
Generates software configuration files for systemsInstalls software and configuration files on hardwareVerifies performance of installed software and configuration filesTroubleshoots and assist in the correction of any identified controls-related issues on toolsSupport
Develops scripts for automating tasks such as software installationInstalls and maintain products remotely or at user's sitePerforms modifications or retrofits as neededConsults with Field Service Engineers and Customers concerning maintenance and upgrades to the control systemTests and perform failure analysis on returned componentsMaintains software upgrade / change schedulesRebuilds or repair customers defective computer hardwareGeneral

QUALIFICATIONS :
Associate Degree in science or engineeringMinimum five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceRequirements
SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Understanding of real-time systems very helpful. Knowledge of the semiconductor industry a definite plus. Good analytical and organizational skills needed. Need familiarity (comfort level) working with complex equipment. Experience writing test plans / procedures / reports requiredExcellent knowledge of system builds and software installsAbility to interpret specifications, drawings, schematics, technical journals and papers, and other related materialAbility to communicate effectively internally and externally with customers and vendorsAbility to develop technical reports and present technical materialComputer architecture and hardware familiarityWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing operation, with clean room and laboratory facilityThe incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 25 poundsWhile performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
