The Field Service Engineer IV provides expert-level maintenance, repair services, and training on assigned equipment while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, timeliness, accuracy, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety. This role is critical in supporting flexible service agreements, including preventative and corrective maintenance, technical support, and upgrades, ensuring optimal performance for Plasma-Therm’s North-Eastern US customer base.

This role is critical in supporting flexible service agreements, including preventative and corrective maintenance, technical support, and upgrades, ensuring optimal performance for Plasma-Therm’s North-Eastern US customer base.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain Plasma-Therm product lines, including Etch, Deposition, and Thermal Processing tools.
- Deliver comprehensive training at customer facilities on all Etch-related tools, ensuring effective operation and maintenance.
- Provide advanced diagnostics and repair for product failures, ensuring timely resolution to minimize downtime.
- Support customer service offerings, including Flexible Service Plans, by providing corrective maintenance visits, software updates, and annual obsolescence reviews.
- Assist Field Service Engineers, Process Engineers, and Sales Representatives with product installations, trade shows, training, and other events as required.
- Document detailed service reports, including system and device failures, corrective actions taken, and recommendations for future maintenance.
- Conduct Failure Analysis (FA) on failed parts in the field and perform helium leak testing using Helium Leak Detectors or Residual Gas Analyzers.
- Write and update process scripts for troubleshooting and repair of Etch and CVD tools.
- Lead and direct the work of other engineers during installations, maintenance visits, and other critical operations.
- Conduct bill of material reviews for equipment that you are working on, in order to proactively manage component obsolescence and reduce downtime risks for assigned equipment.
- Mentor and coach junior and senior-level Field Service Engineers, evaluating their performance and certifying their skills.
- Ensure compliance with customer responsibilities, including maintaining a safe work environment and preparing systems for maintenance visits.
- Actively contribute to the development of customer-focused solutions, including technical support, training, and upgrades.
- Maintain consistent and timely communication with customers, addressing inquiries, complaints, and service requests.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college in electrical, mechanical engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience on semiconductor and related equipment
- At least five (5) years of Vacuum , RF, and Electrical experience required
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, major credit card (for business travel), and valid passport without restrictions
- Ability to understand Etch and CVD related processes
- Ability to obtain necessary Visa(s) to support customers as assigned
- Ability to write process scripts for troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, as well as other technical documentation
- Ability to configure, install and repair computers and associated peripheral equipment
- Demonstrates excellent people skills and projects a professional image
- Ability to compile reports and compose routine correspondence
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, and respond to common inquires, complaints, and requests
- Ability to effectively deal with customers and negative situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to travel extensively to support customer needs
- The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing operation with laboratory and clean room facilities. Work is performed at the factory and individual customer sites as required
- The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds; over 50 pounds with assistance
- While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions.
