PlasmaLab International is seeking an outgoing Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to carry out the duties of a physician substitute. Physician Substitute is responsible for the evaluation of potential donors, conducting confidential and effective interviews with donors to obtain necessary information. Performs medical histories screening, physical examinations for new and returning donors; assesses results of donor screening and laboratory tests to determine initial and continuing donor suitability for plasmapheresis and as needed providing limited emergency care, assisting pheresis staff in facilitating efficient donor flow throughout our biomedical facility.

SKILLS PERFERRED FOR THIS POSITION:

- Individuals who perform kidney dialysis, set IVs, or perform infusion therapy are a good match for this job.
- Experience performing plasmapheresis is a plus. PlasmaLab International will provide plasmapheresis training.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Responsible Physician/Medical Director, the Physician Substitute (PS) performs donor screenings and evaluations to determine the acceptability of all new and returning donors based on FDA regulations and company policies.
The PS performs donor examination, phlebotomy, plasma collection using an apheresis instrument, and medical oversight of the screening, phlebotomy, along with emergency and non-emergency medical care. The PS also reviews donor charts and donor laboratory test results; answers and discusses donor questions; and provides appropriate, confidential counseling.
Accurate computer entry, math calculations, filing of charts and PLI lab results, chart checklists, quality control.
Any other duties necessary for the efficient operation of the laboratory and plasmapheresis center.
Qualifications:
- Current LPN or RN license in the state of Washington along with current CPR certification.
- Exceptional phlebotomy skills: preference will be given to candidates with longer phlebotomy experience.
- Experience working at a plasma/blood center or a dialysis facility is highly desirable. Experience performing plasmapheresis is a huge plus. However, PlasmaLab International will provide plasmapheresis training.
- Experience operating plasma collection devices, such as Aurora, PCS2, Trima, Amicus, Alyx or Dialysis equipment, is a plus.
- Strict adherence to current good manufacturing procedures. Experience in highly regulated facility is additional advantage.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to interpret medical information, technical documents, and to formulate appropriate actions.
- Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Ability to lift, pull, or tug up to 40 lbs.
- Work requires extended periods of standing and bending.
- Ability to train others required.

Autopheresis System, Aurora, BP/Pulse monitor, Hematastat II centrifuge, Refractometer, Needles (17g), Computer, Calculator, Copy Machine.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
LPN or RN license in Washington State
