What are the responsibilities and job description for the Toolroom Manager position at Plastech Corporation?
The Toolroom Manager is responsible for managing Toolroom personnel who provide tooling maintenance support in a plastic injection molding facility to ensure the production of quality injection molded and assembled products with on-time delivery.
Toolroom personnel are responsible building production and assembly fixtures, performing preventative maintenance, and performing repair activities on a wide variety of customer-owned injection molding tools.
The Toolroom Manager is responsible for work flow scheduling, purchasing supplies, employee training, performance management activities for all tool room personnel.
This position is a 1st shift position working Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist tool room personnel with identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving tooling issues and failures while communicating with the shift leaders, production schedulers, and engineering to ensure tooling is available to meet the customers' delivery needs.
- Lead, direct, and schedule the tooling department employees and projects to consistently deliver best-in-class tool maintenance and repair of customer-owned tooling and fixtures to minimize production downtime.
- Work with tool room personnel to ensure proper documentation and records.
- Assist other departments in the manufacture and design of fixtures, machining of parts, general repairs, and quotes for revision or repairs of customer-owned tooling to meet the needs of the facility.
- Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, communication, and overall development of employees.
- Purchasing of mold components, tool room supplies, and outside repair or services to support on-time and cost effective tooling maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Experience with computerized preventative maintenance software package is desired.
- Strong communication skills.
- High mechanical aptitude.
