Job Summary
The mechanical project engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and
executing mechanical engineering projects. This position oversees the mechanical
aspects of diverse projects, ensuring they meet specifications, deadlines, budgets,
and quality standards. Their responsibilities include coordinating production
teams, designing engineering systems, testing, and building prototypes. They
work in collaboration with cross functional teams to develop mechanical systems,
troubleshoot existing designs, and suggest alternative solutions
Primary Functions and Duties
- Perform studies and calculations for the installation or renovation of
mechanical systems
Undertake Mechanical engineering design from concept through detaileddesign phases
Obtain firm quotations from equipment vendors and contractors orestimate costs for the proposed installation or renovation work
Coordinate the efforts of installation technicians and mechanics engaged inmechanical system installation and modification to ensure a cost effective
and timely completion
Act as project manager for projects as deemed necessaryMonitoring and commissioning / handover of Mechanical systemsIssuing of working drawings / safety and quality documentation in line withindustry Policies and Procedures
Assists and aides on implementation of processes and procedures theProcess Engineer may need during SOPs creation and implementation
Proactively provide guidance and direction for mechanical engineeringInterpret, apply and provide direction to larger assigned tasksOversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineeringwork
Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly working environment by complying withsafety procedures, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other related fields isrequired.
3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferablywith extrusion.
5 years of experience in the design or installation of mechanical systems.Experience leading measurable, successful improvement initiatives.Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.Hands on work or project experience, extrusion, plastics, assembly, orcutting applications preferred.
Background in single screw extrusion profiles preferred.Background in pipe or wire and cable proficiency in flexible PVC and TPEspreferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI,Access).
Lean training and / or certification preferred.Experience and knowledge of Six Sigma is a plus.Knowledge of 3D printing and rapid prototyping is a plus.Regional SearchRole is located between Austin and Dallas
