Job Description

Elite Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is currently looking for a front desk/patient care coordinator. The ideal candidate for this position is well organized, personable, and detail oriented, must have at least three years of continuous related experience and must prove Knowledge of medical front office functions through competency testing. Must have knowledge commercial/government health insurance benefits

Job Requirements:

· High school diploma or GED. Medical Office Specialist, Medical Assistant, or Medical Billing certification is required.

· Must have a neat, professional and friendly appearance.

· Must demonstrate ability to provide clerical and administrative support for physician’s office through competency testing.

· Knowledge of medical terminology.

· Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, Commercial Insurance Payers, Worker’s Compensation and Legal cases.

· Experience using EHR systems and willingness to learn the system used in the office.

· Knowledge of business, accounting processes, and ability to work in a team environment.

· Must possess the ability to work well independently in a deadline driven environment.

· Must possess excellent organizational skills.

· Must possess excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

· In-depth knowledge of common medical office practices, procedures, and equipment. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos with an ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

· Must be able to communicating effectively both orally and in writing.

· Familiar with business communication, spelling, punctuation grammar and arithmetic.

· Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.

· Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to physician, office manager, patients, clients, and other business associates.

· Computer literate, able to use Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Accounting, google workstation.

· Well versed in proofing office correspondence and forms for typographical errors, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Skilled in performing basic arithmetic calculations

· Willingness to attend continuing education courses at the request of the employer and demonstrate a proactive desire for continuous improvement.

· Adept at document filing.

· Must possess in depth knowledge about HIPAA and TX 300 HB rules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner and assist them as needed.

· Answer phone calls and route calls to appropriate persons.

· Screen calls, arrange appointments and referrals within a reasonable time.

· Take and deliver clean and concise phone messages.

· Manage, sort, and dispense incoming mail and faxes.

· Prepare outgoing mail, faxes, and packages.

· Type correspondence, reports, memos, and forms as requested by the physician or office manager

· Maintain staff and company calendars.

· Maintain a well-organized clean and tidy workspace and reception area at all times.

· Schedule and confirm appointments daily.

· Notify all patients of upcoming appointments, previous balances, insurance issues, and other items as needed.

· Prepare new patient records, files, and maintains records.

· Using insurance electronic portals perform insurance verification, eligibility and patient financial contractual obligations.

· Strong knowledge of what co-payments, deductibles, and coinsurance in order to coordinate with billing staff to correct any outstanding balances.

· Post received payments on a daily basis.

· Reconcile payments received with the office manager on a daily basis.

· Submit and follow-up prior-authorization as requested by physician.

· Schedule surgical procedures as requested by physician.

· Communicate effectively with patients and family members about their appointments, patient responsibilities, or other issues.

· Request Medical Records.

· Distribute and upload incoming reports and files into patients' EMR chart.

· Prepare and distribute medical records as requested by referring physicians.

· Ensure strict confidentiality of financial records and medical information.

· Assist in preparing documentation and responses for legal inquires, litigation, and court appearances.

· Report any updates or pertinent issues that need addressing to the office manager.

Other Duties:

Any other duties relating to the business operation of Elite Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery that may be assigned by the physician or office manager.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 to $20.00 /hour. based on experience and knowledge
