What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tape Layer Operator position at Plasticard Locktech International?
The primary responsibilities of the Tape Laying Machine Operator are to operate a variety of magnetic tape on overlay machines in the production process. These machines can include the roll to roll and roll to sheet mechanisms, various models and manufactures of machines.
Job Duties:
Responsibilities are primarily general machine operation, basic troubleshooting, department operations, and daily departmental duties. This position is best fitted for operators wanting to learn new operations, multi-tasks, and build within their position. Advancement opportunities for the self-driven candidate. Overtime required on an as needed basis. Operators advance through Levels 1, 2, and 3 are based on capability requirements in the job functions.

Prepare machines for start of shift, which include necessary materials and paperwork

Perform duties necessary to operate machine and perform required tasks according to machine or position procedures

Complete simple, routine maintenance on machine to keep machine operational

Troubleshoot machinery for basic to advanced malfunctions and correct

Complete all necessary paperwork required for machine(s) operated on for the position

Clean machines at end of shift to prepare for next workday or next shift

Clean and stock work area in preparation for next workday or shift

Assist packaging area as directed

Perform measurement operations using tools including; Smartscope, calipers, and other verification devices

Perform quality checks as indicated

Safely perform physical demands as indicated below

Perform these and other duties as assigned by supervisor or other appropriate management personnel

Work mandatory overtime as needed to meet customers needs

Meet order and shift production requirements
Qualifications:

Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing setting
Education:
-
High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Basic math and reading skills

Ability to multi-task

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Basic computer and mechanical abilities required

Strong attention to detail

Ability to work in a team environment toward a common goal

Ability to react to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
