Job Overview
\The Plastics Engineering Company (PLENCO) is seeking a highly skilled Bulk Molding Compound Chemist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new and improving existing BMC formulations.
\This position requires strong knowledge of BMC chemistry, applications, and processing techniques. You will work closely with our Director of Materials Engineering and other cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
\Your primary responsibilities will include:

- Developing new BMC formulations or modifying existing products as assigned by the Director of Materials Engineering \
- Collaborating with customers to create customized formulations that meet their specifications \
- Conducting experiments and testing laboratory samples or trial batches of material \
- Maintaining specimens of trial batches and assigning or performing physical and mechanical property tests of material \
- Analyzing and testing competitor's compound as directed \
- Assessing new raw materials for BMC and recommending changes to improve product quality, characteristics, or cost \
- Specifying and testing raw materials for new formulations or to improve or reduce costs of existing formulations \
- Assisting in the development of shop packets, mixing procedures, and quality assurance standards \
- Providing technical support to production for quality problems \
- Investigating product quality concerns as assigned \
- Providing Quality Assurance support as directed \

This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry minimum. Preferred qualifications include 5 years of experience in conducting and directing R&D work on Bulk Molding Compounds, product and process development, supervising and directing technicians, and extensive knowledge of BMC chemistry, applications, and processing techniques.
\You should possess excellent communication skills, be comfortable with direct customer contact/interaction, and have experience with industrial manufacturing processes, project management, project documentation, and creating reports. Knowledge of prudent lab practices and some programming experience are also desirable.
