Torch Assistant
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Torch Cutter Assistant to support the operator of a torch cutter in our workshop or production facility. The ideal candidate will assist in various tasks related to operating and maintaining torch cutting equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of cutting processes, and helping to prepare materials for cutting. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Assist the torch cutter operator in preparing materials for cutting, including measuring, marking, and positioning metal or other materials.
Set up and maintain the torch cutting equipment under supervision, ensuring it is ready for operation.
Handle and transport materials to and from the cutting area safely and efficiently.
Monitor cutting operations, ensuring high-quality standards and safety protocols are followed.
Help in maintaining and cleaning cutting tools, torches, and equipment.
Assist in troubleshooting minor equipment issues and report major issues to the supervisor or technician.
Follow safety procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
Assist with inventory management of materials and supplies.
Support the torch cutter operator in the setup of the work area and ensure the workspace remains organized and free of hazards.
Help maintain accurate records of materials used, projects completed, and cutting specifications.
Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
Consistently adhere to assigned work schedule, ensuring punctuality and reliability
Other duties as assigned
Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred, especially in roles involving cutting, welding, or fabrication preferred.
Basic knowledge of torch cutting equipment or willingness to learn.
Strong understanding of safety protocols in an industrial setting.
Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.
Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
Attention to detail and a focus on precision and quality.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
Familiarity with different types of cutting tools (oxy-fuel, plasma cutters, etc.).
Previous experience assisting in metalworking or fabrication is a plus.
Basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of industrial PPE and safe work practices.
Strong work ethics and great attitude required
Valid Driver’s License
