Assistant Plant Manager – Chemicals & Plastics Manufacturing
Amotec is conducting a search for an Assistant Plant Manager on behalf of a publicly traded chemicals and plastics manufacturing company. This role is located near State College, PA, at a 200-person manufacturing plant. This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact role with a clear path to Plant Manager within 12-18 months. Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Provide visible and proactive leadership in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), fostering a culture of safety and sustainability while ensuring compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee key site functions including financial results, quality, supply chain, and service performance. Develop and implement metrics to drive business results and align with strategic goals.
- Team Development: Attract, develop, and retain top talent. Mentor and coach team members to exceed expectations and support succession planning across departments.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean Six Sigma principles to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and growth.
- Collaboration: Partner with divisional leadership, R&D, and site teams to align long-term strategies and ensure site sustainability.
- Strategic Execution: Lead the development and execution of annual and long-term financial and operational plans.
What We’re Looking For:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in a chemical-related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 10 years of multi-functional operations experience, with 5 years in a PSM-regulated chemical or plastics manufacturing environment. Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver measurable results.
- Leadership Skills: Strong people leadership experience with a focus on building teams, succession planning, and driving performance.
- Operational Expertise: Knowledge of modern manufacturing, Lean principles, and process improvement methodologies. Strong financial and business acumen.
- Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with a track record of successful cross-functional collaboration.
