Position Description:

The Quality Manager is responsible for planning, coordination and directing the Quality Assurance program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing or supervising subordinates in effective implementation and operation of the documented Quality program.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows all safety requirements, policies and reports any unsafe conditions to a leader.
  • Works in a safe and efficient manner at all times, monitors team members for safe practices and mentors best methods.
  • Functions effectively within a team environment.
  • Responsible for the completion of all required training and technical criteria with in a defined time period.
  • Follows all company policies and work rules including but not limited to 6S (housekeeping), GMP, Lean Manufacturing practices and BOS quality system.
  • Member of the plant Steering Team.
  • Manager of the ISO implementation Management Representative.
  • Responsible for maintaining ISO Standards.
  • Manager of GFSI Food Safety Program and Management Representative
  • Responsible for maintaining food safety program and insuring applicable programs are sustainable and effective (i.e. bacterial testing, pest control program, etc, etc).
  • Conduct internal and external audits based on standards established to meet customer’s specifications utilizing statistical data and product specifications to maintain present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability standards of finished product.
  • Supply data and or statistical reports to customers and vendors as required.
  • Formulate and maintain Quality Control objectives and coordinate these objectives with the Production procedures to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Provide supervision and training of Quality Associates to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products.
  • Investigate and address customer complaints regarding Quality issues, Root Cause Analysis, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc, etc..
  • Miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement Team, and provide direction and follow up on all activities related to CIT efforts to customers and leadership team.
  • Direct and Monitor the work flow and daily work functions of department.
  • Actively responsible for participating in individual team members’ development, engagement and necessary training requirements moving them along in their career path. To include technical criteria & training path completion and mentoring.
  • Ensure that direct reports are being held accountable for and completing their assigned duties.
  • Write, conduct and maintain performance evaluation process.
  • Input and administer disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure all accidents and near misses are reported and assist in follow up analysis.
  • Maintain focus and are accountable for internal and external measures.
  • Associate relations representative.
  • Serves as primary contact between the customer and production facility (i.e. serves as the voice of the customer regarding all quality related activities).
  • Initiate corrective action process for any food safety quality related complaints or observations.
  • All management shares the responsibility and authority for implementing and maintaining the Quality and Food safety management systems
  • Act as a backup to ISO 9000 Management Representative/Food Safety Team Lead by:
    • Managing a food safety team and organizing its work.
    • Ensuring relevant training and education of the food safety team members.
    • Ensuring that the food safety management system is established, implemented, maintained and updated.
    • Reporting the effectiveness and suitability of the food safety management system to top management.
  • Miscellaneous related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Four year degree in relevant major (such as engineering, packaging, or plastics) and 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience, or Two year degree and 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Technically orientated and knowledgeable in manufacturing systems.
  • Must have the ability to respond to inquiries and complaints from customers, vendors, regulatory agencies and members of the business community and effectively present information to top management.
  • Must have a functional understanding the statistical process control (i.e. standard deviation, Cpk, Cp, Ppk, Pp,).
  • Must have a fundamental understanding of statistical software such as Minitab, Excel, etc, etc.
  • Must exhibit strong mathematical skills and the ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical information.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate directions and training to subordinates and work effectively with production and shipping associates.
  • Strong Leadership skills (as demonstrated through the hiring process)
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills (as demonstrated through the hiring process)
  • Self-motivated and flexible on job assignments
  • Proficient in Windows base programs (i.e. Power Point, Excel, Word, Access).
  • Able to multitask in a faced-paced, high pressure environment
  • Possess a strong customer focus
  • High level of personal integrity
  • Possess strong safety focus
  • Possess technical skills and a willingness to continuously learn through training
  • Lifting Requirements: 25 – 75 lbs.
  • Vision Requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Constant: Use arms, hands, and fingers to feel and/or reach, speak, and listen
  • Frequent: Push and/or pull carts/bins, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Occasional: Sit, climb, and balance
  • Environment: Exposed to high levels of noise
