People Interactions:
ü Hire, train, supervise, and promote teacher professional development.
ü Using visionary techniques to encourage a caring learning environment for children, teachers, and families.
ü Meet with families to enroll children.
ü Communicate openly and consistently with parents, providing education, training, and assistance.
ü Develop a staffing schedule based on hours/days children will be in care.
ü Represent PELC in the community.
ü Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
ü Provide accurate and meaningful annual performance evaluations.
ü Coordinate with the Construction Manager to schedule opening.
Administrative and Fiscal Responsibilities:
- Apply PELC’s Strategies to achieve our Vision, Mission, and Goals
- Create policies and procedures and submit them to the DCYF Pre-licensor for approval.
- Coordinate with the DCYF Pre-licensor to get PELC’s WA State license.
Sort through already acquired furnishings and equipment for classrooms, offices, and outdoor playgrounds. Obtain missing items.
- Supervise the installation of furnishings and equipment.
- Attain National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) membership.
- Implement developmentally appropriate best practices for curriculum.
- Assisted by PELC’s accountant, manage cash flow prudently. Establish childcare rates, payroll, and other operating expenses.
- Coordinate maintenance with the construction manager and PELC’s Owner.
- Assist in other projects as assigned by the Owner.
Working conditions –
Local travel to meet with families, staff, and suppliers; occasional prolonged hours;
Physical demands equivalent to intermittent lifting to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent)
3-5 years of qualifying experience working with early childcare education
Minimum of 2 years experience supervising a team of employees
DCYF license registered with MERIT
Completion of Early Learning Professional Development, Training, and Requirements of WAC 110-300-0105 through 0107
Washington State driver's license
Business start-up problem-solving experience
