Behavioral Health Medical Assistant
Responsibilities:
- The Medical Assistant provides direct care to a patient or group of patients based on procedure orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician
- Assists the providers, counselors and other treatment team in performing and supporting inhouse procedures to ensure complete and appropriate information is shared.
- Identifies and reports any pertinent behavioral, medical, and/or psychosocial data to the providers.
- Serves as positive role model by establishing maintaining positive, therapeutic relationships and appropriate boundaries with patients and their guardians.
- Implements behavior management protocols in a safe, clean and therapeutic manner.
- Provide treatment in accordance with the patients care plan and procedure requirements.
- Answer questions and educate patients and potential patients interested in TMS.
- Act as liaison throughout the journey from consultation to patient completion of TMS
- Patient intake and scheduling.
- Complete prior authorizations and prompt insurance follow-ups according to appointments schedules and when needed for patient benefits.
- Collaborate with team and Trakstar to understand and move the benefits and authorizations along.
- Ensure that all rooms are clean and stocked with supplies.
- Confirmation of all appointments within 24 to 48 hours of schedule.
- Assists in full process quality control by reviewing and analyzing data to maintain a level of compliance to produce an accurate timely claim avoiding patient responsibility therefore reducing accounts receivable days.
- Greet and assist patients and make the patient comfortable with the service being provided.
- Utilize electronic medical records to maintain accurate patient records.
- Perform clerical tasks including scanning, faxing, and computer-based documentation.
- Prompt and efficient referral follow-up for scheduling. Document and file referrals according to office policy.
- Continued daily support and communication to providers and staff.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare related field is required
- Medical coding and/or billing experience is preferred
- Strong understanding of medical insurance processes
- Proficient in multitasking and handling a variety of office equipment (computer, fax, scanner)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
