The Assistant Store Manager at Plato’s Closet will be responsible for creating a consistently high quality shopping and selling experience for our customers as well as a positive workplace where our team members are motivated, energized and engaged in achieving our strategic goal of being the Bay Area’s favorite place to shop and sell second hand style for teens and young adults at amazing prices.
The goal of this position is to ensure that the shopper has an inviting and engaging experience in our store through an eye for Gen Z fashion, excellent customer service, inspiring and organized store environment, engaging social media presence and a strong involvement in events and the community. These goals are achieved by using strong leadership and communication skills as well as personal execution of Winmark and Plato’s Closet standards. The Assistant Store Manager leads by example and works with all staff members in a positive and constructive way to ensure everyone understands and executes the company strategies with consistency and excellence.
Areas of responsibility:
- Leads customer service experience to ensure our shoppers and sellers have an excellent 5-star experience every time they visit our store.
- Exhibits strong emotional intelligence and personal accountability.
- Maintains the highest ethical standards for self and others.
- Ensures team members receive full training and coaching so that they can excel at each of their roles.
- Exhibits strong time management and delegation skills to ensure all store tasks are completed consistently and on time.
- Ensures visual display and store environment meets the standards of Winmark/Plato’s Closet (our franchisor).
- Runs an audit-ready store at all times.
- Able and willing to execute all roles of the store as needed
- Exhibits the ability to have direct, constructive conversations with staff and team members with the goal of achieving clarity, team work and consistent improvement.
- Meets or exceeds sales goals and profit targets.
- Maximizes margin dollars by maintaining current knowledge of buying goals including knowing what brands/styles are trending and ensuring we are bringing in the “right” product and passing on what will not sell in our store (quality as well as style). Is also able to train and communicate this information to the staff to ensure our product assortment has a high turn rate.

Each Plato’s Closet location is individually owned and operated by local business owners, so you can feel good about shopping small.
Must have experience in a Manager/Keyholder level role with proven track record of successfully leading a team and positive store culture as well as delivering results.
