Plato , a premium education company serving Silicon Valley families, is seeking an exceptional High School Chemistry Instructor to lead a hands-on chemistry course for a small group of homeschool students (ages 14–17). The class will meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings in San Jose at a private home.
What You’ll Do
- Teach a rigorous high school chemistry curriculum with an integrated lab component
- Guide 4–7 students through theory and experiments in a safe, engaging, and personalized way
- Foster conceptual understanding and curiosity about the natural world
- Prepare students for advanced coursework, standardized tests, and real-world applications of chemistry
- Maintain high academic and safety standards throughout the course
Who You Are
- A passionate educator with deep subject matter expertise in chemistry
- Experienced: 3 years of teaching high school chemistry (classroom, private, or homeschool)
- Organized, reliable, and confident in leading lab sessions and ensuring student safety
- Excellent at explaining complex ideas clearly and adapting instruction for a range of learners
- Professional and warm in communication with both students and parents
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field
- Prior experience teaching AP Chemistry or college-level coursework
- Familiarity with homeschool education or small-group instruction
- Strong classroom management and creative teaching style
Schedule & Location
- Tuesdays & Thursdays, mornings (approx. 2–3 hours per session)
- Location: Private home of one of the homeschooling families in San Jose, CA
