At our locally owned Plato's Closet Lancaster, we are committed to providing a sustainable shopping experience with affordable clothing, shoes, and accessories for the Lancaster community!
POSITION PURPOSE
Assist Store Manager/Owner in managing and promoting all aspects of the business;
including but not limited to buying, pricing, sales, merchandising, loss prevention,
training and managing staff. Promote a high level of customer service and continually
strive for innovative solutions and alternatives in bettering the business.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Assist Store Manager in meeting the following expectations:
1. Demonstrate high values and service by leading by example to cultivate a positive,
cohesive work environment.
2. Promote and role model a culture of positive customer service to customers, every
day.
3. Drive sales through the development of staff; focusing on coaching, training, and
motivating team members to achieve higher performance.
4. Develop and execute strategies to drive customer traffic, customer buys and
customer sales.
5. Maintain a fresh and visually enticing store that is clean, well organized and adheres
to our visual merchandise brand standards.
6. Participate in sorting, evaluating, classifying, and pricing gently used brand name
clothing, accessories and shoes from customers. Provide excellent customer service
through brand and style knowledge, including knowledge of S.H.A.M.
Plato’s Closet7. Prepare daily schedule to execute a well prepared day to set staff and store up for
success. Knowledge of LY and current sales/buy goals, as well as communicating that
the sales team every day.
8. Establish and maintain operational and monetary controls. Including counting safe
and registers accurately, properly record safe and register counts, correctly
executing/recording pain in/outs, and accurately opening and closing registers in a
timely fashion.
9. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or GED required. Some post-secondary education preferred.
2. 1 years prior management and supervisory experience, plus 1-2 years retail sales
experience, preferably in similar merchandise lines.
3. Strong coaching/leadership, organizational, customer service and time management
skills are critical.
4. Demonstration of management skills and the go-to source for the team for creative
solutions for all challenges encountered.
5. Outwardly display a high level of urgency to complete tasks, and interact with
customers and team in a positive manner.
6. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
consisting of a 42-45 hours per week.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 8 hours per day.
2. Lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance. May involve heavier lifting with assistance of
team member or cart/dolly.
3. Bending, rotating, and reaching customary to a retail environment; including
receiving, pricing, and stocking/back stocking merchandise.
4. Exposure to typical retail environment and noise levels.
5. Able to operate a computerized sales terminal.
