Hiring 4-H Extension Assistant in Platte County, Nebraska.
Seeking highly motivated individual to work as a full time 4-H Extension Assistant to work with the 4-H club program and help teach 4-H school enrichment projects in Platte County. This position will focus on the 4-H livestock program, working with 4-H livestock youth, and providing animal science programs.

Essential Functions:
4-H Club Program
- Work with other 4-H staff in the planning and implementation of the Platte County 4-H Youth Development program.
- Assist with the County and State Fair, taking responsibility for 4-H Exhibit areas as assigned, including fair book revisions, hiring judges, working with volunteers, project questions, etc.'
- Work with other 4-H staff on determining 4-H Volunteer Leader needs to provide training and workshops.
- Responsible for placement of new members in 4-H clubs and new club organization.
- Assist with developing, planning, and implementing special events (examples include 4-H Jr. Camp, workshops, annual 4-H celebration, State Fair celebration, etc.)
- Coordinate 4-H Robotics and Growing Clovers programs.
School Enrichment
- Teach, promote, and coordinate the School Enrichment/4-H in the classroom program for youth grades K - 8.
- Teach a selection of appropriate projects.
- Develop new projects as appropriate for school enrichment to align with local, state, and national education standards. Programs must align to statewide initiatives.
- Assist with developing, planning, and implementing special events (ex. Animals Inside and Out, Life on the Farm, Leadership Day, Safety Day, STEM Field Day, etc.)
General
- Report to the 4-H Council on activities and assist with program direction.
- Coordinate National 4-H Week, Nebraska 4-H Month, and other 4-H marketing efforts for the county.
- Attend regular staff conferences/meetings. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Participate in professional development opportunities relevant to the job.
- Responsible for needs assessment, planning, conducting, evaluating, and reporting impacts of educational programs.
Relationships
- Position communicates with community, university, and office personnel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, including the ability to deliver programs to youth audiences.
- Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed on local and state levels.
Qualifications:
- Proven ability and experience in successfully teaching and interacting with diverse youth audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, family consumer sciences, agriculture, or a closely related field
- preferred.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
- Must be able to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
