Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Retail Sales Associate to join our dynamic team. Our store, Play it Again Sports in Corvallis, sells new athletic and sport equipment as well as buys and sells used equipment.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting customers with their purchases, and maintaining a positive shopping environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and will be knowledgeable about athletic and sports equipment.
Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in locating products within the store.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently to process transactions.
- Handle cash register operations, including cash handling and balancing the register at the end of shifts.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and addressing concerns promptly.
- Utilize upselling techniques to enhance customer experience and increase sales.
- Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, ensuring merchandise is well-displayed and stocked.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth store operations.
Required qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales or customer service.
- Strong phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately.
- Ability to work as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
- A friendly attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledgeable about sports and sports equipment.
- Willingness to being trained in purchasing used athletic equipment from customers.
- Proficiency in using cash registers and POS systems is a plus.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
