Job Overview
This role exists to provide nutritious and delicious meals for the children under our care in our brand new kitchen. Responsibilities include meal planning, preparation, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. You will contribute to creating a positive and nurturing environment by serving wholesome meals that meet the dietary needs of young children.
Duties
- Menu Planning: Considering allergies and special dietary needs
- Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook approximately 200 meals for children enrolled
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen area. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines to prevent foodborne illnesses.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and ingredients. Keep track of expiration dates and rotate stock as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with daycare staff to ensure that meal times run smoothly
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces after meal preparation
- Maintain a tidy and organized kitchen environment at all times
- General duties as assigned by Daycare Administrator
Additional Responsibilities:
- Special Events: Assist with the planning and execution of special events or celebrations that involve food, such as holiday parties or birthday celebrations.
Skills and Attributes:
- Adherence to the values and culture of Play Pals
- Previous experience working as a cook or chef in a childcare setting, school cafeteria, or similar environment preferred.
- Knowledge of nutrition guidelines for young children and familiarity with food allergies and dietary restrictions.
- Basic culinary skills and proficiency in food preparation techniques.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current food handler's permit or willingness to obtain one.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
