The main responsibility of the Sales Development Representative (SDR) is to generate leads, qualify prospects, and set up meetings to support the sales team in driving new business. Principal (Essential) Duties
- Identify and research potential clients or companies through outbound prospecting methods such as cold calling, emailing, social media outreach, and attending industry events to generate leads
- Engage with inbound leads and conduct discovery calls to qualify potential customers based on their needs, budget, and readiness to purchase
- Schedule and arrange meetings or product demos for the sales team by identifying and nurturing high potential prospects
- Conduct market research to understand prospective clients’ industries, needs, and pain points to personalize outreach and increase the likelihood of engagement
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified leads and consistently follow up on open opportunities
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure smooth handoffs of qualified contacts and provide necessary information for successful sales conversions
- Maintain accurate records of prospecting activities, interactions, and contact lifecycle statuses in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (HubSpot)
- Execute consistent follow-up strategies to keep prospects engaged and move them further down the sales funnel
- Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly lead generation and qualification goal
- Assist with Grant opportunities by researching federal, state, local, and private funding sources and collaborating with administrators and departments to secure grants that enhance educational services and student success
- Assist with corporate responses as needed
- Stay in touch with leads who are not ready to buy
- Keep the sales system updated with lead activity and notes
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Revenue Operations Manager and/or President
- Understanding of the sales process, sales funnels, and lead qualification methodologies
- Deep understanding of marketing automation and Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
- Strong research skills to identify key decision-makers and target leads effectively
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Organized with strong time-management skills to prioritize tasks and manage multiple leads at once
- Resilience and persistence, with a “can-do” attitude and drive to meet or exceed goals
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred
- 3 years of experience in sales operations or similar role
- Knowledge of education policy, K-12 funding structures, and school operations is a plus
- Previous experience in a sales or customer-facing role, especially in a B2B environment, is a plus
- Familiarity with various marketing channels and tactics
- Knowledge of inbound marketing methodologies
- Motivated by targets and able to manage performance metrics
- Comfortable with minimal travel, no more than 5%
- Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, standard business hours with flexibility
- High volume of interactions, requiring strong organization and multitasking
- Perform work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force infrequently, and/or a negligible amount of force to move object
- See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity; kneeling, standing, walking, crouching, stooping, reaching and other similar tasks requiring physical activity
- Operate a computer, copier, printer, fax, and telephone
