What are the responsibilities and job description for the Art Instructor position at PLAYDAY?
Open seven days a week, PLAYDAY provides indoor and outdoor Grown Up & Me Art & Sensory activities for children ages 1-4 as well as After School creative programming, Creative Camp, and customized birthday parties for ages 5 in a safe small group studio environment with highly educated and experienced instructors.
At PLAYDAY, children engage in exploratory projects in an inclusive, diverse, respectful, and positive setting. We inspire children to make ART all while developing a variety of lifelong cognitive and emotional skills such as hand-eye coordination, communication, critical thinking, self-awareness, patience, and most importantly self-confidence.
We are in partnership with multiple progressive, pre-schools, and middle schools where our highly talented staff also instructs everything from Painting and Design to Cartooning and Architecture.

All PLAYDAY staff are required to have a degree in the ARTS from an accredited College or University. Our instructors have a passion for mentoring and motivating children along with a love for sharing relevant art history and modern techniques. PLAYDAY instructors strive to be positive creative role models for all children.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to leading and instructing engaging and creative art sessions and projects within all Playday offerings.
- Cleaning the space during and after sessions
- Picking up children from schools within walking distance from all locations..
- Maintaining a positive, enthusiastic, and professional attitude.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant/equivalent work experience required.
- Demonstrates the ability to successfully lead and instruct all PLAYDAY offerings: GUM, 5 Activities, Creative Camp, Advanced Art, Birthday Parties, and events.

- Work Environment Physical Requirements: Class environment, offsite and outdoor locations (e.g., children’s home, school, walking distance park). Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending. Must be able to lift to 30 pounds at a time. Must be willing to travel to all current studio locations.
- Pay: This is a part-time position that pays $20-$25/hr and a Simple IRA plan with employer match after working a year.
- Note: Consistent availability is required with availability on the weekend.
