We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Sr. Content Producer to oversee the capture and production of content for our Phoenix Mercury social & digital channels. This role will be pivotal in the on daily coverage of our team, players, fans and the WNBA. The ideal applicant must have a passion for women’s basketball, strong knowledge of video production, and a problem-solving mentality. This is a year-round role requiring extensive travel and a flexible schedule, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
What You Will Do:
- Leads as the team’s primary or sole videographer and editor for all home and away games, practices, training camps, shoot-a-rounds, team events and all on-court and off court player experiences and appearances.
- Capture, produce, and edit short-form content for all social media channels showcasing individual highlights, team highlights, player stories, and basketball operations staff stories
- Develop social-first video content that connects fans to the Phoenix Mercury franchise and engages consumers through strategic content by platform and audience
- Delivers against established deadlines as a key member to all phases of production, including conceptualization, scripting, planning, lighting, coloring, sound, recording, editing and producing
- Operate professional video, lighting, and audio equipment during both studio-based and field-based productions
- Ownership responsibility for archiving, organizing, and tagging of all content to streamline projects for editors to utilize in the brand storytelling
- Responsible for content marketing tentpole campaigns, which includes activations around events such as the Schedule release, Free agency, WNBA Draft, All-Star, Post-Season Awards, Training Camp and more.
- Collaborate with members of the creative team and various departments around the Phoenix Mercury to produce unique and personalized content for current and prospective players that algins with the organizational objects and overall content strategy
- Lead all filming and editing of player interviews and media availabilities for both home and away games, along with applicable practice sessions
- Effectively collaborate with social, marketing, communications, graphic, and photography stakeholders and departments to produce and ensure the delivery of cohesive brand content
- Ownership of schedule inclusive of production timeline, internal reviews, and key stakeholders for the publishing schedule
- Collaborate on creative strategy, design, and shoot content for annual Media Day and Player Entertainment Day with the intention of developing season-long content and multiple intro videos for all home games
- Identify opportunities to drive revenue across the organization, by staying aware of the latest industry trends and behaviors – both inside and outside of sports to apply insights into creative and strategic approach
- Manage external freelancers for project-based work, ensuring alignment with brand standards, creative direction, workflow efficiency for project success
What We Need From Our Content Producer:
- Proven experience in social-first video production and content creation, preferably in basketball or a similar fast-paced environment.
- Experience in all aspects of video production, filming, lighting, and audio.
- Strong storytelling skills, with an ability to craft compelling narratives from raw footage.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices for content distribution.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with players and team staff.
- Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to cover both home and away games.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to balance individual deliverables while working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Experience/ Education Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree preferred
- 3-5 years of video production experience required. Experience in sports industry is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with HD video production equipment, lighting, and set design
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications (Premiere, Photoshop, After Affects minimum requirements)
