About The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic accounting professional who thrives in the building process and is ready to make an impact on our expanding and evolving organization. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of insurance accounting with exposure to MGA and/or Broker/Agency reporting. The successful candidate will bring their skills and experience to add value to the Players Health business, team, and mission. Additional responsibilities include assisting in all aspects of the accounting department, including the monthly and annual close process, reconciliations, and insurance carrier reporting obligations for our MGA, in addition to supporting Oracle Net Suit General Ledger implementation project.
This position will report to our Financial Controller and is available to work near our Minneapolis Headquarters or remotely. Players Health is a distributed workforce that offers a flexible, remote and/or hybrid work environment.

The Accountant role has a compensation range of $85,000 - $115,000, depending on skills and experience. You will join an organization going through significant growth as well as digital transformation. Instill a mindset of ownership and accountability with all managers and team members, providing a “playbook” for best practices – defining expectations to meet the vision and strategy for growth.

Responsibilities (are inclusive of but not limited to):
- Accurately produce required monthly premium and claims bordereau timely; develop process to collect and confirm underlying data.
- Assist in the monthly close process, including the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and all supporting documentation.
- Establish and maintain formal policies, practices and procedures to ensure US GAAP compliance and strong organization-wide internal controls.
- Collaborate within the Finance team as well as cross-departmentally to maximize efficiency.
- Responsible for the insurance carrier reporting obligations for our MGA.
- Responsible for statutory and statistical reporting to carriers, to provide all information needed for regulatory and financial statement reporting, as well as any other contractual reporting requirements or calculations.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations; resolve issues; address any late payments.
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of the related information within the General Ledger.
- Partner cross-departmentally with business leaders to drive desired process and behaviors.
- Seek creative ways to drive team engagement, boost morale and foster self-sufficient teamwork.
- Play an active role in Oracle GL implementation project including but not limited to historical data mapping, UAT testing, report testing, parallel close and data reconciliation.
Minimum Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or similar field; CPA preferred
- 3 years of accounting experience in the insurance industry
- Solid understanding of US GAAP
- Knowledge of General Ledger systems, Oracle Net Scape preferred
- Expert in Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt, learn new processes and technologies
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
