What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audio Designer - Contract position at Playground Games?
Description
Playground Games are looking to grow their world-class Fable audio team with the addition of an Audio Designer keen to contribute to incredible audio experiences.
About us :
As a first-party Xbox Game Studio, we are passionate about making genre-defining games that are accessible, beautiful, and, most of all, fun. We are excited to be rebooting the much-loved Fable franchise and are expanding our diverse team to create a new classic in the action RPG genre.
About the role :
You’ll use your skills and experience in game audio to help shape the sound of Fable. Working alongside the audio team you’ll create sound effects and implement audio in our in-house engine. We have dedicated teams working on music and dialogue, so you get to focus on sound design.
You’ll also collaborate with other developers from multiple disciplines, evangelising audio and having a creative voice in discussions and reviews. You’ll have the opportunity to put your stamp on part of a unique and memorable gaming experience.
As a team player, you’ll be keen to share your ideas & knowledge and grow your own expertise. The successful applicant will learn and adapt their workflows to our bespoke inhouse tools – and of course help shape how these tools empower us to keep making better audio.
You'll be passionate about sound design too, always looking for ways to improve the games audio. You’ll have the use of state-of-the-art facilities here at Playground, with a plethora of kit and Atmos rooms for asset creation and mixing.
This is a contract role based at our studio in Royal Leamington Spa. We have a hybrid work model in place with a minimum of 3 days a week in studio. Relocation assistance is available if required.
What you’ll do :

Practical knowledge of Wwise, including debugging and optimisation
Great knowledge of DAWs and various plugins
The ability to adapt to new technology and bespoke game engine tools
Knowledge of blueprinting & visual scripts is desirable
