About us
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Afterschool Program Teacher to join our Playmates team. The ideal candidate will be at least 21 years old and either able or willing to learn to drive a small child care bus. This position requires a passion for working with children, strong communication skills, and a commitment to providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for students in our afterschool program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead groups of children in various activities, including homework help, arts and crafts, sports, and other enrichment activities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by maintaining a clean and organized environment and following all safety protocols.
- Assist in planning and implementing a diverse range of educational and recreational activities.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about children's progress and behavior.
- Prepare snacks and assist with mealtime routines.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
- Willing to learn or already able to drive a small child care bus to transport children to and from school and field trips, if necessary.
- Adhere to all licensing and regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in early childhood education, child development, or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience working with children in a child care or educational setting is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record; willingness to complete any required training for driving a small child care bus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to be flexible, patient, and maintain a positive attitude.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
