POSITION DESCRIPTION
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT COORDINATOR

Department: Continuous Improvement
Reports to: Director of Manufacturing

SUMMARY:
To be an integral member of the continuous improvement team, responsible for assisting in the analysis of all processes – Office and Manufacturing - determining future opportunities for improvement. Take this analysis and implement improvements through proven CI / Lean / TPS tools. Follow up on all activities is an essential requirement of this position. This employee must be a change agent with strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:

1. Analyze any/all processes for opportunities for improvement
2. Ability to work with Managers to identify future projects and develop structured events calendar.
3. Maintain and update CI Log and all Kaizen Action Item Lists
4. Facilitate all CI / Lean / TPS Kaizen events required, including but not limited to, 5S, Process Mapping, TPM, SMED, VSM, etc.
5. Assist with data pull and data analysis to support operations including cost analysis
6. Assist in the development, upgrade and Training of all Lean / CI / TPS training modules
7. Assist in the development, implementation and facilitation of the 5S process
8. Facilitate Six Sigma projects

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Related Bachelor’s Degree such as Industrial Engineering Degree preferred
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification preferred
  • 5 plus years related experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in 5S, TPM, SMED and VSM Kaizens.
  • Requires ability to influence others by service style leadership and improving conditions of work environment that promotes adoption and sustainment of CI processes.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, and the general public. Strong written and oral communications with “influencing skills”.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Strategic thinking skills, and the ability to effectively translate planning into methodology and results.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project, Syteline, Outlook Auto Cad, Minitab or other statistical software and working knowledge of Access Database.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT:
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the attendance policy stated in the company’s employee handbook. Must be available and willing to work overtime hours as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
