Santa Monica Studio is seeking to join our team an Animation Intern to join our team for our Summer 2024 Internship Program!
Established in 1999, Santa Monica Studio became renowned for excellence in the action/adventure genre with the worldwide award-winning success of the 2005 release, God of War, and its subsequent sequels. God of War (2018) became one of the fastest selling PlayStation 1st-party games of all-time and has since won over 190 Game of the Year awards including DICE, BAFTA, The Game Awards, Game Developers Choice Awards, IGN, Game Informer, EW, and Variety. Our most recent title, God of War: Ragnarok (2022), has since continued this run of commercial and critical success.
Responsibilities:
The Santa Monica Studio Animation team devises, produces, and implements the animation assets for our games. Working with designers, writers, and actors, the Animation team is a key component in delivering a polished player experience; everything from visceral combat to emotional storytelling.
With a proven track-record of creating award-winning animation work for both gameplay and cinematic elements, the Animation team looks to innovate creatively and technically with each new project. This role will focus on completing the animation needs of our next title, working closely with creative leaders to bring life to our characters, creatures, and worlds.
As an Animation Intern you will do the following:
- Work closely with the Animation Director, Animation Leads, and the Production team, to produce character, creature, and world animation assets that deliver on the creative vision for the project.
- Uphold best practices for the preparation, delivery, execution, and integration of animation assets.
- Collaborate across disciplines with internal and external partners to ensure animation assets are delivered and tracked accurately and to project schedule.
- Work with Producers and other stakeholders to provide accurate information and estimates on animation tasks.
- Proactively facilitate requests or information needs regarding any aspect of the animation pipeline.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited institution, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree (Master’s) in Fine Arts or related field
- Projected to graduate between December 2023 – June 2025
- Proficiency in Maya and/or MotionBuilder, proven through showreel of past work.
- Ability to succeed in a creative, team-oriented environment
- Excellent communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
- A basic understanding of game production pipelines
- An enthusiasm for practical innovation and the ability to bring new ideas to the table!
- Must be available to work for 12 weeks from May – August or June – September
- Internships are available to students who are US citizens or international students with an F-1 visa
Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.
Salary : $33 - $46
