This Mandarin teacher position is located in Redwood City, CA, and will begin now or in August 2025.
- Teaching Mandarin through hands-on projects, enrichment activities, and meaningful daily routines to Kindergarten students, daily after school to 6 pm.
- Opportunities to flex your creative muscles to design PBL (Project-Based Learning) lessons.
- Opportunities to advance your lesson planning and delivery skills by teaching PBL units to achieve Hanban YCT levels.

- Onsite training includes Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Project Based Learning (PBL), and the Responsive Classroom teaching approach.

Required Qualifications:
- Must have 3 years or more experience teaching children 3 to 12 years old face to face, over 20 hours per week
- Best have 3 years or more experience teaching Mandarin to children
- Ability to design curriculum and implement lessons with student-centered principles
- Ability to plan and facilitate hands-on and engaging lessons
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom of 15 students
- Ability to be a strong team player
- Ability to learn software tools such as Google doc and Google sheet
- Able to communicate in person and via email in simple English
- Able to work in spring camps and summer camps
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S
Responsibilities:
- Create a joyful, positive, and non-judgemental Mandarin learning community with a co-teacher
- Support the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth in children
- Maintain classroom and outdoor environment that is safe, organized, functional, challenging, and developmentally appropriate to promote learning through exploration
- Know the strength and areas of improvement for each child and make growth plans
- Co-author and execute behavior plans when the needs arise
- Take PlayThrive's existing student-centered Mandarin lessons (often PBL units), plan your own scaffolding and assessments that engage children with a variety of strategies, and meet your class where they are.
- Maintain records of course work, teaching improvements, students' progress, and assessment records
- Proactively look for ways to improve the class structure, environment, and curriculum.
- Participate in professional development events and activities
- Communicate program information/updates as necessary to parents in person or via email.
- Contribute to weekly newsletters.
- Lead teacher training sessions on Mandarin teaching methods. Compile teacher training materials
