POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Bar Apprentice is to provide excellent service to all guests who approach the bar, keeps the bar area clean and stocked at all times, and assists the Bartender with various duties
Top 5 Specific Job Functions:
- Clean all equipment, tools, and supplies and maintaining equipment in good working order
- Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner and making them feel welcome
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the bar
- Stock the bar with supplies necessary for service
- Complete opening side duties which includes: checking quality and amount of all bar stock and supplies through checklist; setting up bottles in display cabinet and speed rail; checking condition and cleanliness of blender, shaker and other tools; checking temperature of refrigeration units and glass wash machine
Other Specific Job Functions:
- Assist Bartenders on the execution of service and following the bartender’s direction
- Re-fill ice coolers, garnish trays, straws and napkins
- Perform all opening and closing duties, based upon shift assignment
Other Specific Job Functions (Cont’d):
- Bid farewell to guests, using guest’s name when known, and encourage them to return
- Anticipate the guests’ needs and responding appropriately with a sense of urgency
- Work as a team, assisting all guests’ and employees’ needs and inquiries
- Effectively communicate with management, bartenders and service staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees
- Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the company, division and department
- Follow all health and safety regulations
- Mix and Serve drinks following standard recipes
- Clean of all equipment, tools, and supplies and maintain equipment in good working order
- Communicate with Managers and Co-Workers in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees
- Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet
- Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method and garnishes for each drink
- Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations
- Ensure that all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the POS system before giving drinks to them
- Clean glassware in glass machine/three compartment sink
- Legibly document designated items on the spill sheet
- Ensure maximum usage of all supplies to attain budgeted beverage cost and to prevent waste
- Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements
- Perform other job related duties as necessary
RESPONSIBLE ALCOHOL MANAGEMENT
- Recognize and acknowledge when Guests are becoming intoxicated and/or are intoxicated
- Monitor potentially intoxicated and/or disruptive Guests and promptly bring to a Manager’s attention
- Refuse further service of alcohol to intoxicated Guests in a courteous and safety-minded manner
- Responsible for accurately checking Guest identification
- Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as Company and/or departmental policies/procedures
- Comply with all state and federal liquor laws

Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- At least 1 year of previous Apprentice Bartending experience
- Must have 1 year of customer service experience
- Working knowledge of spirits, wine and food
- Working knowledge of liquor dispensing guns
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to lead and mentor a team
- Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms
Preferred:
- Previous experience working in a similar resort setting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time

- Must have the ability to work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors, such as, but not limited to noise, dust, and cigarette smoke
