GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Recreation Director, and the Special Event Coordinator, the recreation department's Special Event Staff plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless execution of various Pleasant Grove Recreation / City events by providing top-tier customer service, logistical support, and event coordination. Whether assisting with event setup, guest services, or troubleshooting on-site challenges, our Special Event Staff members play a vital role in delivering exceptional experiences.

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Assist in the setup, operation, and breakdown of event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, décor, and equipment.
  • Greet and direct guests, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive event experience.
  • Monitor event activities to ensure safety protocols and policies are followed.
  • Coordinate with vendors and other event partners to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support the Event Coordinator in handling logistics, including ticketing, registrations, crowd management, etc.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to any guest inquiries, issues, or emergencies that arise during the event.
  • Perform general clean-up and post-event wrap-up tasks to restore the event location to its original state.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Prior experience in event staffing, hospitality, or customer service is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with guests professionally.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and solve problems under pressure.
  • Physically capable of standing for long periods, lifting up to 30 lbs., and performing various manual tasks.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on event schedules.
  • Knowledge of recreational programs, facilities, and community resources is advantageous.
  • Confidence in sales and connecting with businesses and vendors.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in sometimes stressful environments.
  • CONDITIONS

  • The Special Event Staff will typically work in the office but may also spend time at recreational programs and events.
  • Moderate physical activity. Ability to lift 15 to 50 pounds
  • Position requires walking, standing, lifting, and other physical activity.
  • Job has the potential to work Weeknights, Holidays, and or Saturdays.
