Primary Purpose:
Assist the school principal in overall administration of instructional program and campus level operations. Coordinate assigned student activities and services for grades 6-8 middle school.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree
Texas Mid-Management or other appropriate Texas certificate
Certified PDAS or TTESS appraiser.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Thorough understanding of school operations
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to coordinate campus support operations
Experience:
Two years experience as a classroom teacher preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
- Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs.
- Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.
- Promote the use of technology in teaching/learning process.
- Oversee special programs as directed for the campus.
- Follow and ensure that the PGISD curriculum implementation schedule is followed and that teachers are implementing each curriculum element outlined by six weeks period.
- Identify what teaching staff needs to know and be able to gather, analyze, and use student assessment data at both the campus and classroom levels.
- Ensure that each department meets in a Professional Learning Community on a regular basis to foster long term commitment to excellence. Attend PLC meetings to encourage an atmosphere of collaborative experimentation that leads to continuous improvement, and that professional dialogue drives day to day decisions.
- Identify areas of needed professional development and schedule workshops as necessary to assist staff in the effective implementation of the TEKS Resource curriculum.
- Evaluate the progress that staff has made in achieving competencies related to TEKS Resource and student performance. Use this information to design a professional development plan to move the program forward.

- Help campus principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain and records to track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.
Personnel Management
- Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
- Assist campus principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff as directed.
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
- Supervise operations in principal’s absence.
- Help plan daily school activities and extracurricular activities.
- Requisition textbooks and equipment; check inventory; maintain records.
- Coordinate safety inspections and safety-drill practice activities.
- Coordinate support services as needed.
- Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
- Assist with maintenance/facilities requests as needed.
Student Management
- Ensure that students are adequately supervised while at school or related activities.
- Help to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
- Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Other duties as assigned
School/Community Relations
- Articulate the school’s mission to community and solicit its support in realizing mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with school principal. Supervise teachers, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned.
